Show HN: A website that tracks US food prices every day
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) publishes daily food price data for about 290 commodities on: - what growers were paid at shipping point - what buyers paid at the big city wholesale markets - what prices supermarkets advertised in their weekly ads This data comes out as dozens of separate text reports and PDFs, one per market, with no history and no way to see how prices change over time. I think this should be public data that is easy to access and understand, so I built an open-source tracker for it. Github: https://github.com/kadoa-org/food-price-monitor

is government data even trustworthy anymore at any level for any reason? they've fired everyone and replaced them with a few sycophants (you think those job numbers are real after he fired head of Bureau of Statistics calling them "rigged" and replaced with someone he liked) just make a fake walmart account for your local store add a dozen items to your cart that you use most and take a screenshot or print to pdf then go back in December and look at the same items if you already use a walmart account for years, go back and look at a receipt and then add the same items and look at the price

Excellent! One suggestion, /food-prices/retail table sortable by column asc/desc just like in commodities I like ordering by percentage desc to see the highest price jump
