the speed at which the cost margins ate into Apple's profit is the reason. They can't remain the dandy of the nouveau riche if they can't justify the price points in the same atmosphere of PCs and Androids. This is a marketing cost play, nothing else. They're happy to raise their prices on their existing plays and wait out the ram cartel. It might work, depending on the regulators appetite for breaking the monopolies and the AI circular fraud.
