> Every gamer has dreamed about having an infinite library of games to choose from. Eh, that sounds like I would have difficulty picking which games to play. I kind of prefer having a narrower selection from my shelf (and digital shelf)

It is easy to see lost sales with a 15$ service vs. the full ticket price of 60$. But I wonder how big of a dent it takes out of piracy where “trialling” many games (vs settling on buying just one) is a big incentive to torrent them.

Good. If they would have succeeded then it would have choked out anyone charging actual money for games. Developers would have been even more compromised than they are now.

41yo, lifelong casual gamer who has 100s of hours on many games and also goes years without playing any but also frequently jump in here and there. I recently bought a PS5 Pro in anticipation of GTA6. I’m pretty shocked at how boring and lifeless big modern AAA games are. I feel like I’m basically playing a cinematic sequence in a Marvel-slop movie. “ A game idea should be at least 90% mechanics and less than 10% story. Any more than 10% story is a red flag.” -Tynan Sylvester Everything is just an Unreal engine demo now?
