Not unrelated, this kind of information augments all kinda of law enforcement, greatly increasing the lifetime consequences of convictions, though sentencing penalties have remained the same. Last century, a year in jail ended after the year. Now it is still there for every job application, lease, and loan you might take out in life. The justice industry benefits with easy information, punishments are amplified and permanent, but crimes keep happening. Let’s reconsider whether our medieval system benefits society or simply controls and exploits it.
