There's a great bevy of organoid startups, and I always want to do a small amount of angel investing in them because they always seem so promising. It really seems like it should accelerate so much in drug discovery. But what stops me are the concerns in this blog post, plus never having done an angel investment in the past. Still, it's such a huge leap over cell lines, right? And those are already used to make so many decisions, as can be seen with data at DepMap and internally at some many places. Anyway, small, continual advances have really revolutionized biology over the past few decades, and I suspect that organoids, if not a revolution on their own, are a stop along that path. If nothing else, they teach us so much basic biology from cell-cell contact that we can't through other experimental techniques, which in turn, may lead to better drug discovery.

Having known nothing about organoids, this was a fascinating read. I can just imagine how challenging would be our work if computers worked like body.

prob because biology cannot simply be refactored down into parts like code, and their sum is greater than it's parts.
