The article seems to repeat its thesis almost verbatim three times.

The thing that kills me is how serious it's gotten. Can't joke around anymore, not unless you're doing it ironically.

The best thing I ever did was to ban my smartphone to the toilet room. I don't use a smartphone in the "smart" sense anymore. Apart from openstreetmaps and molly I don't have any apps installed nor do I want to use the social internet anymore. I don't use those kind of websites on my desktop machine either. Everything that steals my focus time is banned from my office, including Teams and Outlook for work. I intentionally have that only running on my dedicated work laptop, so that I have a separation of concerns in place. My desktop machine allows me to focus without any distraction. No steam, no games, no youtube, no slack, no teams, no discord, no reddit, no instagram, no tiktok. Note the long list of apps I wrote. Each of them steals a percentage of your brain capacity per day. The more you use, the less you own your thoughts.
