I feel like Flock cameras (And other Palantir style incursions on our liberties) are sort of a vaccine - a threat and stressor to see how the public immune system reacts. Because certainly, the technology will keep improving and we're more likely to end up in a complete totalitarian surveillance state if we don't react to this kind of incompetent evil, and are taken completely by surprise by competent evil. I say this for the entirety of the human civilization on the planet, not just the United States.
