„Sweet solution“ - anyone having tasted pure vanillin in a nontrivial dose, will tell you that it tastes absolutely disgusting. It only works in traces.

I wonder if there's generally any correlation between things that taste sweet/pleasant and things that have other useful properties. There sure are a lot of examples of things that taste sweet but are absolutely awful for you... and a lot of examples of things that taste absolutely terrible but can be relatively good for you.
