Whenever anyone tries to force you to pick a side, the best answer is generally "not yours". Why should Kazakhstan not follow that principle here? By doing this, the US is effectively pushing them into China's arms.

They're also doing the same to Canada in making it pick a side for cars after Canada removed some tariffs on EVs from China after the US imposed large tariffs on Canada's car industry has been trying to destroy the Canadian auto industry entirely.
