To be fair, the average American is already horrifically ignorant and their consent is more easily manufactured by terrible people with terrible ideas that this merely offering "Hitler Youth" free resources to a "Fox News" culture that has already successfully cemented their attitudes, beliefs, and values in 100M+ American minds by the post-Nixon affiliated media activists and investors. If any left-leaning organization had done this, there would be Red Scare show trials and calls to execute communists. I don't think there's any fixing America's broken, footgunning ignorance with meaningful education investment of expertise, time, effort, and/or money because a large fraction are proud of it and want to believe "alternative facts" than deal honestly with others or reality.
