just curious how much is this costing

This is neat, but when I looked for some specific filming locations (as opposed to a city-level listing), I didn't find much. Obviously, creating a precise filming location database is an order-of-magnitude harder problem to solve.

Nice work - the map UI is smooth and easy, sites are surprisingly accurate for single scenes. Can you partner with another database to really bulk this up? Possibly even grow it a little more with crowd-sourcing with verification. More notes about the scenes within the movie would be handy. Fan notes and threads could be a horrible idea I'd like to see. : ) I could see this being a good resource for scouts, fans, and others. I'd be down to help on this!

What's the tooling for this? I've wanted to do a similar map project for a different dataset and this is a slick presentation.

Very cool, I've sent a couple of Star Wars fans out to Achill Island off the coast of Kerry as the location for the last Jedi. However due to very small footprint of the island and my zoom level another film was higher in the z-order, blocking out the other film pins, and it looked like there might be missing data. That all said, it looks like they also filmed closer to my home which I probably would never have known about if not for this service. Nice work, nice design, slick UX and Interaction model. Well done! https://moviescenemap.com/locations/malin-head/

Nice interface (though the cursor/pins feel very fidgety) to scraped data. Not very satisfying when you can't compare photos of the location with the on-screen version.

Kick ass, I really love this idea! It can bring a little bit of fun to wherever one travels :). Definitely several scenes I didn't realize I'll have to look out for on my regular work trips! If I were to put in one feature request I'd say "a way to easily get to a page about the media". E.g. if I go to Cheyenne I see there was a TV show named Jericho and there are buttons/links which take me to pages about where this data came from, all of the locations it was filmed, the place itself on Wikipedia, and so on - but I have to initiate a manual search to find out anything about Jericho. Or maybe there is a link already and I'm just an idiot :D.

Fun map. First local landmark I look up is Niers Tavern in Woodhaven, NYC. Famous for the scene in Goodfellas after the heist and a scene in Tower Heist which I have not seen. Good wings, burgers and chicken sandwich.

I clicked on the dot for Khartoum, the only one in Sudan. It shows the Nile in Egypt, related to a movie that plays (only) in Egypt. A bit disappointing.

How can I add more movies and their locations? EDIT: Apparently here: https://moviescenemap.com/missing/

This map seems to really skew post-2000, with a few before then sprinkled in. None of the places I know about made it onto the map, but they're all 1970's.

Is this from the same person that did Castle Map a few weeks ago? Feels similar

surprised to see nothing at null island[0]. Good job cleaning your data [0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null_Island

It’s not that accurate, for example, it says the movie source code was in ottawa train station, looking at the movie scenes nothing looks like it, looking it up online and it says it was cancelled due to fees issues so it never done there.

I'll give a punctuation correction here, for a more professional look. In the pop-up boxes it says "2 more places under this dot, click to see them". That's a common grammar error called a "comma splice", because the second part is a sentence with complete subject and verb. That comma would need to be a semi-colon, as in: "2 more places under this dot; click to see them".

Great work. I feel like these 'consolidation of the internet into one specialist format' sites are one area where the non-corporate Internet can still flourish. This is much less niche than my own project! And there is still room for this to grow. I zoomed in on my home area and it is missing a fairly famous film (with a wikipedia page) that was filmed there.
