Title of the post is not really about a breakthrough by AI but a human breakthrough plus an ongoing dispute where the authors claim OpenAI trained on their private chats and then tried to claim the proof as their own. Something like “Tristan Buckmaster and Levent Alpoge on AI-assisted fluid dynamics proofs and OpenAI” would have been a more appropriate non clickbaity title. The proof was not made by AI but AI was used to create it. For what I gather the OpenAI threw massive compute to try to front run the authors and proceeded to blackmail them. This is a Millenium price proof btw.
