I have whatever the opposite of fomo is and I hate playing games if I feel like they have more content coming down the line. Since a game being released doesn't mean much anywhere with post launch support I made a website to analyze steam games to figure out if they are actually content complete.

Can't check whether star citizen is done yet :/

Very cool. Curious how you parse all this data and where you get it from. For instance, https://isitdoneyet.gg/game/warhammer-40000-rogue-trader is getting a DLC, see https://store.steampowered.com/app/3650060/Warhammer_40000_R... . The source you list on that page is an individual DLC that's part of the Season Pass.

I'm not into gaming, but how is something like Red Dead Redemption 2 showing as uncertain of completeness? Does the gaming community think that if something has an online service that it needs constant updates? https://isitdoneyet.gg/game/red-dead-redemption-2

Seems completely arbitrary to me honestly. Clearly some adjustments to the criteria are needed because this list reads unmaintained vs maintained as opposed to complete vs incomplete.

So is HL3 out yet?

Why would I use this when I can just check on steam?

this is maybe one step short of the underlying need which is "should i play this yet, or is there more to come?" because it seems like there would be games which are not "done" and will have additional DLC but the experience is more or less complete and releases of new maps, rebalances etc are contemplated within the release model? imo the analogy would be like to eg https://www.macrumors.com/roundup/iphone-17-pro/ what you are presenting is "when was this last released" as opposed to a forward looking "should you buy this now" but even thats not true because you are considering future stuff, so maybe its jus the framing of "done" vs "should i get into it now" not being the same thing when the definition of done is more stuff is coming i love the recommendation engine though!!! make it more prominent!

This reeks of AIslop in terms of design and in terms of content. There's a Ko-fi link to support running the site but at no point do I feel like someone is running this because they actually care about these ratings. Just waterhose as many games and assign them some arbitrary label. Just a complete waste of time.

Anyone remember the old GoneGold.com? https://web.archive.org/web/20040213113548/http://www.gonego...

This is a strange definition of "done" in the context of a game being truly complete per your about page. I think the biggest thing, before I rant and this post needs a tl;dr is live service games are never done. They're only "done" when they inevitably shut down. All of the reasons you list for a game not being done(especially for single player games/games that have long since been put into maintenance mode at this point) just seems wrong. If you don't consider a game "done" because of a missing roadmap feature for horse armor or because a dev on twitter said they'd be updating their old game with upscaled HD/UHD textures or cutscenes or whatever then we have very different ideas on when a game is considered done/feature-complete. Alright that was just the intro, rant below: > We evaluate games based on developer communications — announcements, patch notes, DLC listings, and official roadmaps — to determine whether all planned content has shipped. But just looking through the first few pages really has me curious as to the formula your AI cooked up because the reasoning is either vague or doesn't make sense(at least to me) why the game isn't considered complete. Some examples: Grand Theft Auto V Legacy (not complete, reason: Removed from storefront) what? So until it comes back to steam's storefront(which is very unlikely at least for the near future) gta5 legacy is considered "incomplete"? Elden Ring(the base game) isn't done because DLC - "The Tarnished Pack" which consists of cosmetics for your horse, a couple new weapons and armor sets and "new classes", which because its a FromSoft game just means, slightly different starting stats and a unique starting armor set. All of which are essentially just goodies from the Nintendo Switch release coming to other platforms now. There are a few NPC invasions as well which seem to be the only legitimate changes/modifications to the original world.

Interesting to see people here complain about Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk being categorized as "Not yet", whereas for me those games were actually the litmus test to see whether the site made a principled approach to the question or not. As much as endless updates can seem like you are getting your money worth or a nice excuse to revisit a game, there is a real value to just leaving your work be. Let it face the test of time by allowing it to age.
