As someone who enjoys driving a manual transmission car, I'd rather something like this over the "up or down" manual mode gate in most automatic car shifters these days. Not because I think it's going to feel perfect, or because I'm under any illusions that I'd be able to do anything the computer didn't want to do, but because those stupid manual mode gates have such short throws that the experience of using them is worse than just leaving it in auto.

Or you could just buy a manual transmission car? You can have as much fun in a car that costs a tenth of the price and where the gears actually do what you think they do.
