AI aside, just the fact that people are allowing themselves to be moved to a method of search that requires them to be logged in is troubling to start with.

2026 is the 30th anniversary of targeted advertising on the internet. Do we really need to post a new version of the "<free service> shows you ads based on your data" article every single day? This is not a revelation. You are not enlightening the dumb tech-illiterate masses. People already know, and they don't care.

Brave search is quite good for private browsing and supposedly private AI answers.

I will admit that I am conflicted. GPT delivers value to me ( paid sub ). That said, the article bothers me in a weird that is hard for me to express. Just the other day, google news had an article prominently displayed that said[1] 'I Got My Muse AI Agent to Sext Me—and Meta Says That’s Totally Fine'..as in, you explicitly asked for it. I don't like ads, but the reporting on anything llm related in media is just bonkers. [1] https://www.wired.com/story/i-got-my-muse-ai-agent-to-sext-m...

Could targeted malware be sent through ChatGPT using the recently-on-front-page Israeli spyware thing[1]? It seems attacks can become easier through this since oai provides the ad service. [1] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50106676
