Every time I catch up on sleep I feel amazing and vow to myself that I’ll never stay up late again. That it’s just not worth it. I’ve been re-learning this lesson for a good 25 or so years now.

I've been discussing this with friends. I rue waking up, knowing the day that awaits, so I stay up as long as I can to avoid the time warp.

I, unintentionally, see sleep as just lost time - I know I feel good when I’m rested and I can do more in the awake hours. It’s almost like how the innies in Severence have no concept of time or existence outside of work. When their day ends, it’s just an immediate reset to the start of the next day. I often joke with my finance about how I’m 15 minutes away from a meeting when we’re getting ready for bed - as soon as I fall asleep I’ll wake up and need to get on my first meeting. I feel like I often procrastinate going to bed, because I know I’m 15 minutes away from a meeting - but I can just push it further away by staying up longer. The more I dread the next day, the more I procrastinate going to bed. Does anyone else see time like this? My finance makes fun of me for having such a silly view on going to bed.

Matthew Walker’s Why we sleep book and his podcasts changed my perspectives on the importance of sleep - https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/34466963-why-we-sleep

I am usually procrastinating sleeping because if I won't wake up soon enough (6-7 hours) I am probably going to end up with a mild headache which will usually runaway into head splitting migraine. So the fear that tomorrow may be the day full of pain is keeping me awake from inevitable sleep.
