It seems profoundly irresponsible as a CEO to release this kind of speculation to employees, knowing it'll leak, and knowing it'll seriously damage your company. It seems like the kind of speculation you'd do with trusted lieutenants and insiders, not broadly. He's playing checkers while Sam plays chess, and he's been outmanuevered at every step here. Merits aside, of course.
