a direct quote: "the most accurate criticism of AI companies including Anthropic is that we haven't yet delivered on our big promises to benefit the world." The trust crisis is more than just who gets to run what models. It about what those models can and actually do accomplish. The average person isn't actually doing anything wowing with models. let alone concerned they might hack a business or conspire with other models. They are still trying to figure out how to make those models simplify their job roles and make their businesses more money. The promises are high, the delivery on those promises not so much. Instead the focus should be on shipping things that actually work and provide business value. Model intelligence and capabilities have arguably already passed the threshold required to do it. they just needs to be utilized.

> “I think it is fundamentally a crisis of trust,” Amodei said. “I think that ordinary people don’t trust companies, governments, or the tech industry and always suspect that we are cooking up some new way to screw them over.” The easiest way to fix this is to improve the quality of life of people in the US. How about spending every waking moment talking about how Anthropic is championing universal healthcare in the US or reducing income inequality in ways that show up in people's bank accounts. The closer that Dario's net worth is to the average Joe's, the more benefit of the doubt AI would get.
